Mercedes does not provide the CLA45 and A45 in the United States that means the closest thing that Americans can get to a sizzling hatch from the German automaker is the 2021 Mercedes-AMG GLA45.
Highlighted in this assessment from Matt Farah, the GLA45 could be considered as a slightly lifted variation of the A45. Powering the crossover is a 2.-liter turbocharged four-cylinder. In Europe, it delivers 415 hp and 369 lb-ft (500 Nm) in ‘S’ form but the U.S. misses out on this flagship variant and has to make do with the conventional GLA45 that’s rated at 382 hp and 354 lb-ft (480 Nm) of torque.

Coupled to this motor is an eight-speed twin-clutch transmission that Farah is very complimentary of. He claims that he wasn’t especially fond of the previous seven-velocity twin-clutch that Mercedes utilized but believes this 8-speed is substantially much better and offers much more crisp equipment variations. He also likes the shift lights on the gauge cluster and the gear ratios.
The GLA45 also sounds incredibly very good and the exhaust presents some awesome burbles on the two upshifts and downshifts.
In addition, Farah loves how the crossover rides and states that the steering is quite communicative. He also likes the brakes but suggests the 21-inch wheels that appear typical are a minimal extreme and the vehicle would be greater off with 20s. He also is not a huge fan of the seats which do not supply a lot bolstering.
